Polishing stainless steel sanitary products for handling food and beverage applications is more complicated than non-sanitary applications. We determine our polish finish using the Ra scale. Ra is defined as roughness average and is the most accurate measure of surface finish roughness. We measure the Ra using a profilometer. A profilometer determines Ra values by moving a diamond stylus across the work piece’s surface for a specified distance and using a specified contact force.
